Surviving Winter Appeal

SidEnergy is supporting the Surviving Winter Appeal - with a newsletter from its chair:

Hello everyone,

This year SidEnergy is helping spread the word about the annual Surviving Winter Appeal. The Appeal raises donations for local vulnerable people suffering during the winter months from the effects of fuel poverty.

This can be serious - the South West has the highest rate of excess winter mortality of all English regions and over 1,000 people die in Devon each winter due to the weather.

Usually the campaign focuses on asking pensioners who do not need their Winter Fuel Payment of £100 to £200 to donate it through the county's Community Foundation to people who are less fortunate. However anyone can donate any amount.

In Devon, donations are made to the Devon Community Foundation, who claim Gift Aid if the donor is eligible, and the money is channelled to Citizens Advice centres who give it out as small means-tested grants.

The main webpage is at:   http://devoncf.com/give/surviving-winter/   and I attach a leaflet and Gift Aid form produced by Devon Community Foundation, and two pages of background by SidEnergy.

Many thanks for your support and best wishes,

SidEnergy
